Yesterday Amy and I used our date-afternoon (Thanks for babysitting, Mom!) to see Food Inc. at the Broadway Theater. We both went in skeptical, which is kind of ironic as we are both near-vegetarians and eat very little processed food, etc.
To cut to the chase: the movie was breathtaking, and I highly recommend it for everyone!
Anyway, there is way more about the movie I have time to blog about here, but there is one way you can get involved now. School lunches in most school are a travesty and certainly not helping America’s obesity epidemic. This is not a criticism of the amazing men and women who staff our school lunch rooms, but of a system historically based of cheap, unhealthy commodity food (you can read about the history of school lunch in a grad paper I wrote last summer – Google Doc Link).
I encourage all of you to sign this petition to help reauthorize the Child Nutrition Act.
